Block Description

Learners understand the responsibilities of the school leadership with regard to the implementation of the program in the school.

In this block, we are going to learn about what you school leaders are responsible for when it comes to the implementation of the program in your school.

Step 4 Content

Assistant Director Responsibilities

The Assistant Director is in charge of the following:

  • Allocate funds to school initiatives based on student/teacher needs and available budget
  • Track school expenditures and identify problem areas or opportunities for improvement
  • Give presentations to employees and achieve buy-in from all stakeholders for new initiatives
  • Mediate and escalate to the director disputes between employees and handle employee complaints, concerns, and grievances
  • Recruit good quality candidates who fit into the school philosophy
  • Ensure cheating-free assessments in all schools
  • Ensure the principals are fully trained in the TLP program
  • Ensure the principals and school staff are conducting themselves with integrity
  • Ensure the logistical requirements for running the program are met across all schools
  • Ensure adherence to the implementation processes as well as workability in the implementation of the TLP program by holding regular feedback and mentorship meetings with principals
  • Conduct independent observations of implementation in all schools by talking to teachers and students
  • Ensure the required mentorship and guidance is provided to students for competitions and projects
  • Ensure effective reporting to the School Director, Trust, and OM team.
  • Ideate and implement 2 projects in the academic year that effectively add to the school’s vision

School Principal Responsibilities

School Administration

  • Know the process and service blueprint comprehensively and thoroughly (the process flow, the data collection processes, where the spreadsheets are stored, etc.) and ensure it is being followed.
  • Maintain the implementation master sheet for school
  • Oversee house teachers and ensures the house system is effectively implemented
  • Works with and includes the Head Boy/Head Girl to improve the running of the school 
  • Schedule and implement FAs and SAs
  • Greenlights report cards for students

Student Learning

  • Greet students daily as they come into the school, be aware of student’s behavior, performance, and participation levels in school
  • Attend all coordinator meetings and take over the meetings eventually (essentially, principals have to shadow everything that pooja does so that they are able to take over her job eventually). Assign escalation interventions to teachers, coordinators, and principals.
  • Share escalation intervention plan with the team, ensure escalations are followed upon.
  • Follow up bi-monthly on student growth through analysis of student implementation master, FA, and SA scores.
  • Submit monthly implementation report

Teacher Growth

  • Follow up bi-monthly on teacher growth (analysis of teacher expectations and milestones)
  • Submit monthly implementation report

Parent Management

  • Maintain communication with the parents for issues escalated by coordinators (with information coming from their daily meetings, implementation tracker, and coordinator escalations)
  • Use existing parents to increase admissions into the school

Principal Milestones

  • Milestone 1: Attain 100% in the principal training course
  • Milestone 2: Ensure coordinators and teachers meet their academic milestones for students
  • Milestone 3: Coordinate with house teachers and ensure that at least 8 (out of 17 available Saturdays) House Competitions are held on House Days.
  • Milestone 4: Coordinate with house teachers and OM team and ensure that at least 3 house projects are completed by all houses
  • Milestone 5: Submit at least 6 Monthly Reports

Principal Expectations

  • Condense the above actions into what it means for the students, and communicate it to the teachers/parents
  • Show ability to invest in self-development and show observable progress in self-development
  • Consistently uphold school emotional safety contract and ensure teachers uphold the same

Step 6 Description

  • Learners understand the responsibility of the School Coordinators

Step 6 Content

School Coordinator Responsibilities

School Administration

  • Hold post-class meetings, track and ensure teachers have gotten all students to complete all worksheets, quizzes, notebooks, and assignments, and raise escalations as required. Take notes in the coordinator register and hand them over to the principal.
  • Provide daily information to the principal for the updating of the implementation tracker, and raises daily escalations for teacher, student, or parent interventions

Student Learning

  • Hold post-class meetings with teachers and note down student escalations. Decide to deal with it themselves or to escalate further to the principal.
  • Take 1 class a day in scenario 2. The coordinator has no classes to take in Scenario 1.

Teacher Development

  • Ensure teachers have finished the teaching competencies course.
  • Train teachers on subject session plans (under Akash and Poojas guidance)
  • Provide teachers effective mentorship for teacher demos
  • Observe classes on a rota basis and submits teacher observation report for each observed class
  • Train new hires on values and Social-Emotional safety (May 2022)

Coordinator Milestones for Academic Year Oct 2020 to June 2021

  • Milestone 1 – Score 100% in the coordinator training course
  • Milestone 2 – Teachers under the coordinators should get 100% in the teaching competencies course
  • Milestone 3 – Work with teachers to ensure 60% for all students in FA1
  • Milestone 4 – Work with teachers to ensure 55% for all students in FA2
  • Milestone 5 – Work with teachers to ensure 55% for all students in FA3
  • Milestone 6 – Work with teachers to ensure 50% for all students in SA1
  • Milestone 7 – Work with teachers to ensure 55% for all students in FA4
  • Milestone 8 – Work with teachers to ensure 55% for all students in FA5
  • Milestone 9 – Work with teachers to ensure 50% for all students in SA2

Coordinator Expectations

  • Is present for 90% or more of the training
  • Works with principals to plan for school activities, house activities, important days, etc.
  • Consistently upholds teacher emotional contract and ensures teachers uphold the same
  • Shows ability to invest in self-development and shows observable progress in self-development
  • Adheres to school values: Integrity, Excellence, and Ownership
