Use Attention Grabber
Tell: “We are going to review all the new words that we learnt today.”
Act: Play a recording with the following words pronounced (you may also read out the words with the correct pronunciations, or you may use the Internet to play the correct pronunciation of these words). Hi, Hello, My, Name, Is, What, Your, Good, Morning, Evening, Night, May, Know.

    1. Reinforcement: Greeting someone using the time of the day

Choral Responses:
Use Attention Grabber
Tell: (Inform learners that you are going to give instructions.)

  • Give each instruction slowly and carefully.
  • Use validation and praise words to acknowledge good performances.

Tell: I will say each word aloud and the entire class should repeat the word as one, i.e., in a chorus.
Ask: Is it clear?
Learners’ Response: “Yes it is.”
Act: Start the choral response activity. Make sure that you complete all the words at least twice until you are sure all learners are able to pronounce the words correctly.

Step 6: Conclusion

Use Attention Grabber
Establish Instructions Procedure: (During instructions, the learners should listen attentively and silently. They can signal the teacher if they have a doubt. At any point, they might be asked to repeat any instruction.)

Instruct: “I will say the meanings of the words aloud and you have to guess the word.” (Have learners repeat these instructions if needed.)

Act: Start the activity by saying ‘Start’, (Use cold calling or volunteers for this activity and make sure all learners get a chance to answer.)
Define the words in this way:

  • Name (What a person is called)
  • Morning (between midnight and noon)
  • Afternoon (between noon and evening)
  • Evening (between afternoon and night)
  • Night (between evening and midnight)
  • May (asking for permission)
  • Know (to be aware of)
